Report fly-posting

You can use this service to report fly-posting, which is classed as illegal advertising using posters, flyers or other literature which:

  • are displayed without permission
  • fail to meet certain conditions

We can take enforcement action against anyone caught fly-posting and any venue or business benefiting from an illegal advertisement.

We aim to remove fly-posting within ten working days of it being reported.

Advertising guidelines

Not all adverts are fly-posting, as long as guidelines are followed and permission is given you may be able to advertise your event.

Community and charity advertising

If you are holding a local event for charitable purposes, such as a fete, you may be granted permission known as ‘deemed consent’.

Business advertising

If your advertisement is for a business or commercial operation you should check whether you need permission before displaying adverts by contacting our planning department.

You may need to apply for advertisement consent to display an advertisement bigger than 0.3 square metres (or any size if illuminated) on the front of, or outside, your property (be it a house or business premises).
