Local Restrictions Support Grant

Businesses required to close in England due to local or national restrictions will be eligible for grants worth up to £3,000 per 28 days under the local restrictions support grant.

Before you start

To be eligible to apply your business must come under one of the following categories:

  • non-essential retail, for example:
    • clothing stores and tailors
    • homeware stores
    • tobacco and vape shops
    • electronic goods and mobile phone shops
    • charity shops
    • photography studios and antique stores
    • markets (except stalls which are selling essential goods such as food or hardware)
    • car and other vehicle showrooms
    • car washes
    • auction houses
  • indoor and outdoor leisure facilities, for example:
    • skating rinks
    • dance and fitness studios
    • gyms
    • sports courts
    • swimming pools, water sports venues, water parks and aqua parks
    • golf courses and driving ranges
    • shooting and archery venues
    • indoor playgrounds or play areas, including soft play and trampolining centres
  • entertainment venues, for example:
    • nightclubs, dance halls and discotheques
    • bingo halls, casinos, betting shops, amusement arcades and adult gaming centres
    • bowling alleys
    • indoor games, recreation and entertainment venues
    • escape rooms, laser quest and go-karting
    • sexual entertainment venues and hostess bars
    • cinemas, theatres, concert halls and other music venues
    • museums and galleries
    • circuses, funfairs and fairgrounds
    • theme parks and adventure playgrounds, parks and activities
    • aquariums, zoos, safari parks, farms and wildlife centres
    • indoor visitor attractions
    • conference centres and exhibition halls
  • personal care facilities, for example:
    • hair, beauty and nail salons
    • tattoo parlours
    • spas
    • massage centres
    • skin piercing services
    • tanning salons
  • hospitality venues, for example:
    • restaurants
    • pubs and bars (including those in hotels, members and social clubs)
    • cafes and canteens
  • accommodation, for example:
    • hotels
    • hostels
    • bed and breakfast
    • holiday apartments, homes cottages and bungalows
    • campsites and caravan parks

If you are a business already in receipt of the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) but are seeking to apply for a top up from the Additional Restrictions Grant, please note that the Council will only be considering these applications in exceptional circumstances where this is essential to support the wider local economy.

However, where businesses feel that they have a case, contact with the council on will be required prior to an ARG application being submitted.

The Council will reject applications submitted without prior discussion and acknowledgement.

Businesses required to close in England will be eligible for the following:

  • £1,334 per 28 days, for properties with a rateable value of £15k or under
  • £2,000 per 28 days for properties with a rateable value of between £15k - £51k
  • £3,000 per 28 days, for properties with a rateable value of £51k or over

To apply you will need:

  • Your 9 digit business rates account number
  • A monthly statement from your business bank account

Click and collect and take away services are allowed where the substantive business activity was previously through visiting members of the public and that has now closed.
